Sabrina G. Ruggiero has been admitted to the bar in New Jersey and before the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. She graduated from Montclair State University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and a minor in Paralegal Studies, and earned her J.D. from Rutgers Law School in 2022. She was named to the Dean's List at both institutions.
From 2018 through 2023, including throughout law school, Ms. Ruggiero served as a paralegal concurrently to two veteran Federal Criminal Defense practitioners. There she gained significant experience in drafting motions and appeals in State and Federal Courts. She has personally assisted in matters appearing before the Supreme Court. Now, as a practicing attorney, her prior experience has catalyzed her success as an advocate and litigator.
In 2024 she was appointed Municipal Public Defender for Maplewood and South Orange, adding Livingston in 2026. Those appointments carry a high-volume docket of criminal, traffic, and DWI matters. She also represents police officers through the New Jersey State Policemen's Benevolent Association Legal Protection Plan.
Ms. Ruggiero joined this firm as Of Counsel. Her work encompasses municipal, state, and federal criminal defense, DWI and traffic matters, firearms appeals, Megan's Law registration and termination proceedings, applications for executive clemency, and civil litigation.
